Ranger 600 Stunt 4 Channel RTF
Ranger 600 Stunt 4 Channel RTF
In this video I will discuss the EXHobby Ranger 600 Stunt plane. The Ranger 600 Stunt plane is a completely ready to fly (RTF) 4 channel radio control model airplane. Everything needed to fly comes in the box to include the fully assembled plane, two spare propellers, two lipo batteries, a battery charger and a 2.4 GHz 4 channel transmitter. The only item you need to add are four AA batteries for the transmitter.
The Ranger 600 flies very well. The large span ailerons provide full bank control, and the elevators and rudder offer as much control input as required. The small brushed electric motor provides plenty of power for the 2.5 ounce RC model airplane.

      It depends how you ordered it from the website. MinimumRC asked me to do the review and sent me all the components I need to complete. On the website it is pretty clear in the selection menus how many servos, receivers, batteries, transmitters, chargers, etc. you will need. It just so happens that the ESC/receiver can bind to my Spektrum, DX6 transmitter, so no need for a new transmitter. If you contact Minimum at their support email, they get right back to you.

    The difficulty for initial students of flight is that lift is produced by two or more methods simultaneously and not just by a single force. The lift mechanism is also affected by the speed through the air and compression effects. There is only one important principle that needs to be borne in mind and that is that all wings will stall at a given angle of attack for that wing, no matter what speed the aircraft is flying at. That is the point where the airflow over the top of the wing becomes chaotic and a large element of lift is lost. Tilt the wing up too far into the oncoming airflow and the wing will stop flying. If the aircraft has an excess of thrust over weight, the aircraft will still fly but it is held up in the air by the thrust of the engine against gravity, not because of lift from the wings.

      Robert: As a recreational pilot, you link your RID with your FAA registration number at the FAA's Drone Zone website. Then, you add whatever RC model or drone you are flying to the Drone Zone list of models. You need one RID module that can be swapped between aircraft that you are flying. All this assumes your model is over 250 grams and you are not flying in a FRIA.

In your demonstration, you would not be able to add, say retractable gear, since the ID uses the last slot in the receiver. Do I understand it correctly? In another of your videos, you mentioned the RUKO ID which helps find your plane. Would you recommend that over the FliteTest remote ID if you wanted the RUKU location feature or can the Flite Test ID also find your plane? Please keep up the good work. Some crashes I can remember. 1. The old reverse ailerons trick without a preflight check. 2. Hammerhead stall turn straight through a slow flying plane minding its own business. 3. TX screen brown out from a Taranis intermittent main switch and or battery connection failure and reboot. 4. Kk2.1 flight controller brown out and reboot on VTOL plane from a dodgy XT60 connector or 5V 3Amp UBEC overload. 5. An arrogant tree not watching out for my plane. 6. Moving my vehicle I backed over my plane at the field was definitely the least satisfying crash ever, and dont leave them on the car roof either.

    Hi Tim, I am 13 and new to building RC planes and I have built your bronco design and I have had problems with my plane banking to the right. I have tried to trim the ailerons with little to no success. Do you have any suggestions to help me fix my problem? thank you, Mason

    • @TimMcKay56
      @TimMcKay56 10 дней назад

      Hi Mason, welcome to the hobby! Plz be certain that there are no warps in the wing. Next, make sure the wing balances left and right; if one side is heavier, put some nails in the other side to balance it out. If it still banks to the right, just trim the aileron on the right side to be a bit "more down" to keep the wings level.

    Fun fact about modules. Very easy to spoof pilot location, one of big concerns with RID. Simply turn module on a mile (or however far away) from where you plan to actually fly. It will record 1st place it achieves gps lock as "pilot location". This will help keep pilots safe!! Don't worry if the module does not sow on your phone under any "drone scanner" apps. There is a difference in phones OS vs RID Bluetooth type and what they'll receive. As long as it's faa certified...I hope it only broadcasts 100 yards and isn't receivable on most handsets!!

    Excellent video on the drone and your first drone experience! I will be interested to see where you go with this. I will have to admit that I am quite surprised, shocked actually, that you bought a drone based on how you have covered drone topics in the past. I am curious about a couple of things. - What is your motivation with this? Is this to expand your content on your channel, just curious about drones, or do you have a desire to get into the filming aspect of this? - Are you going to go out and explore? Ok, a bit of good natured dig there, hopefully you take that in jest. Seriously though, do you have places besides your home and your RC field that you are interested in going and getting video? - be interesting to hear you talk to the first time, first drone, selection process. Heard good things about the U11Mini, however giving up on the gimbal is something to consider as opposed to a DJI Mine 2,3 or 4. What did you consider and how did you arrive at this one? Not criticizing your choice, just curious. - How did your buddies at the local field react to this, to you joining the dark side? - lastly, do you have your part 107 given that you are posting video to your YT channel? I have gotten a response from the faa that simply sharing your video and/or posting to social media does NOT, necessarily, invalidate your recreational intent. However, it could depending on whether good will or self promotion is involved.

      RN: I have nothing against drone pilots, rather I am concerned about any RC pilot who does not follow basic FAA regulations. Drone pilots simply have a lot of flights where they should not be (i.e. controlled airspace without a clearance) and that stuff has simply got to stop. And if, God forbid there is a bad accident (like the moron in July who filmed a returning Blue Angels six ship formation), they are not going to like the FAA response one bit. Just sayin' . . . As this is my first drone, the idea was to begin at the beginning. I was very impressed with the Ruko R111 remote ID module, so decided to give their drone a try. At 234 grams, no registration or remote ID required, and it was aimed at first time drone pilots. I.e. me. With drones you do get what you pay for. But for $280, the U11 MINI has a lot. The thing missing is a gyro stabilized camera, that would be nice to have. But I can get a working knowledge of the software, etc. with the U11. Guys at the field were happy to see me and the drone, zero issues. And I do have my FAA Part 107 certificate. Got that around three years ago, not an easy test. You really do have to prepare.

      @@TimMcKay56 Congrats on the 107. So far I have resisted that for a few reasons. First everything I am particularly interested in doing I can do recreationally. Second the cost of the test is ridiculous. Third, the scope of the knowledge base required goes way beyond what a drone pilot needs (sectional charts and other manned, fixed wing knowledge, weather etc). I know people will say it's good information, doesn't hurt to know it, but at the same time it's simply not necessary. So, just not up for that, so far. Are you going to explore?

    Where do I put my fingers to test cg because it a ridged wing and what's the formula??

    • @TimMcKay56
      @TimMcKay56 12 дней назад

      For a straight wing like this, CG is 25% of the chord, measured back from the leading edge. Just put your fingers at this point, see that the model balances. Close enough for these sport fliers.

    That's a cool looking drone and at a fair price. I'm aware there's no need to remote ID below-250gm models but I've been putting my FAA operator registration number on all my park planes. Do you think I should leave that info out for my unregistered planes?
